DAPE

FIRM APPLICANTS

Requirements to Apply:

An Engineering corporation or partnership must have an active Certificate of Authorization in order to practice or offer to practice engineering in Delaware.

To receive a certificate, firms are required to:

  • Complete an online application using the link below. If you are reapplying, please contact us before starting a new application.
  • Provide your firms Federal Identification number
  • Provide names and addresses of all officers and board members
  • Upload a Delaware business license or letter of exemption issued by the Delaware Division of Revenue using the short questionnaire to determine if you need a business license. If you answer “No” to all 4 questions, follow the instructions on the questionnaire to obtain a Letter of Exemption from the Division of Revenue. If you answer “yes” to any of the questions, apply for a Delaware business license here. A Letter of Exemption only applies to the requirement for a Delaware business license. It does not exempt you from DAPE’s Certificate of Authorization requirements.
  • Pay the application fee of $200
  • Upload a signed and sealed affidavit (a custom affidavit will be generated during the application process).

Our examining committee reviews applications the last Wednesday of each month (meeting dates vary in November and December). The committee reviews applications, and makes recommendations to our Council, which meets the 2nd Wednesday of the following month. Your firm is not eligible to offer or provide engineering services in Delaware until you have an active Certificate of Authorization.

Refer to Sections 2821 & 2825 of the Delaware Professional Engineers’ Act for more information.
